How do the rates differ between retailers? Energy retailers in New South Wales charge regulated usage rates set by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal. Many retailers then compete by offering discounts (such as our 12% exclusive group discount) off these regulated usage rates.

PREVIOUS CAMPAIGN

THOUSANDS of consumers have already signed on to explore switching mortgages, as part of a campaign to improve Australia's banking sector.
Consumer advocate group Choice launched the Big Bank Switch today in an effort to give home buyers an easy avenue to change banks en masse.
Hours after the launch, more than 10,000 people had already signed up to be part of the consumer campaign.
"This is a terrific response on our first day and shows just how much consumers want to take action to get a better deal on their mortgage," Choice director of campaigns Christopher Zinn said.
"The message to banks is loud and clear that ordinary mums and dads want to get their voice heard and they are willing to switch together in order to get a better deal."
The online campaign is designed to bring together mortgage holders in an attempt to build a stronger consumer group that drives change.
"We want to get millionaires' rates for ordinary mums and dads," Lachlan Harris, a former key adviser to Kevin Rudd and co-founder of the One Big Switch movement, told The Sunday Telegraph.
Mortgage holders register at www.bigbankswitch.com, with lenders then competing to make offers to the registered group.
"Anyone with a mortgage should sign up because the more people who register, the bigger the group discount," Mr Zinn said.
Registered mortgage holders will receive a rundown on the mortgage offers from lenders, based on criteria such as product type, terms and conditions, and discount.
It is then up to the mortgage holder to chose if the offer is right for them.
Choice has been campaigning strongly for a more competitive and consumer-friendly banking sector through its Better Banking
